Hurzeler 'totally committed' to Brighton despite Leverkusen links

Fabian Hurzeler says he is "totally committed" to Brighton amid rumours linking him with a move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Reports have claimed the German side are interested in replacing current boss Kasper Hjulmand with Hurzeler this summer.

But the German told Your Site: "It's always an honour to be linked with these kinds of rumours, but I'm really happy here at Brighton.

"I'm very thankful for the trust and support the club gives me. We are focused on a strong finish to the season.

"I'm definitely totally committed. There are no other thoughts. In football, there is not always this loyalty and support from a club.

"I really feel trusted and welcomed here. I can express myself and be successful here.

"There are so many things to play for until the end of the season. That's my only focus."

Trippier to leave Newcastle

Kieran Trippier will leave Newcastle at the end of the season when his contract expires.

The 35-year-old has made 157 appearances for the club over five seasons since joining from Atletico Madrid.

Trippier has been a key part of Newcastle's two Champions League campaigns and helped them win the Carabao Cup last year.

He said: "The time has come to leave this amazing club after four-and-a-half years. This is where I have felt most at home. It's emotional and I'm really going to miss it.

"I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times. You've always supported me, always stood by me.

"To my team-mates, it's going to be emotional. It's been an amazing journey with you guys. I'm going to miss you all but to win a trophy with you guys was really special - the best of my career.

"And to Eddie Howe, all the coaching staff and the team behind the scenes, a massive thank you. The gaffer had the trust - twice - to sign me, gave me the opportunity to represent and captain this great club and most importantly, we managed to win a trophy.

"I'm going to miss everyone at the club. Thank you."

Man City won't stand in Rodri's way, says Pep

Manchester City will not stand in the way of Rodri if he wants to join Real Madrid, says Pep Guardiola.

The City midfielder was quoted as saying that he would like to return to Spain at one point and suggested it would not be possible to turn down a move to the 15-time champions of Europe.

When Guardiola was asked about Chelseas decision not to consider Enzo Fernandez for selection after making similar comments about his own future, the City boss was adamant that he would not be taking such a stance.

What Chelsea has done is Chelsea. There is not one player who I think would turn down the chance to play in Madrid. I understand completely. He was born in Spain.

Always my wish is that Rodri would stay longer, as long as possible in this club, because he is an incredible player, a top player.

I know he has proved for many years how attached, how close he is to this club. His contribution at this club has been massive.

Now I have the feeling in the last one or two games that he is really, really back for a long, long period.

Guardiola has long made it clear that any player who does not want to play for City can leave. Asked if that applies to Rodri too, he said: Absolutely. The organisation of the club is above all of us. If one player is not happy, they have to leave. It will continue the same.

Always I think he is happy and I hope he is happy but if he is not, all he has to do is knock the door of the sporting director, accept an offer in an accordance with his incredible quality and after that it belongs to the clubs and himself.

Fernandez yet to agree new Chelsea deal

Enzo Fernandezs agent Javier Pastore says talks over a new contract at Chelsea have stalled, with no agreement reached.

Speaking to The Athletic, he said: There have been talks about renewing his contract, yes. We started discussing it around December or January, but we couldnt reach an agreement.

As Enzos contract still has six years to run, we decided not to renew it because the terms werent right for us or for the player. Given what Enzo is capable of today, he deserves much more than hes currently earning.

We felt that rather than renewing on terms that wouldnt make the player happy, it was better to leave things as they are and focus on playing and performing well We dont want to get into discussions about figures, contracts and negotiations when the timing wasnt right.

Gattuso steps down as Italy boss after World Cup qualification failure

Gennaro Gattuso has stepped down as Italy boss following their failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The four-time winners missed out on a third consecutive World Cup after they were beaten on penalties by Bosnia and Herzegovina in Tuesday's play-off.

Following the defeat, Italy and Gattuso have "mutually terminated" his contract to end his 10 months in charge.

The ex-AC Milan midfielder said: "With a heavy heart, having failed to achieve the goal we set ourselves, I consider my time as coach of the national team to be over.

"The Azzurri jersey is the most precious asset in football, which is why it's right to facilitate future technical evaluations right from the start."

Gattuso's exit follows the resignations of Italy FA chief Gabriele Gravina and Italy head of delegation Gianluigi Buffon.

'Man City offer Rodri new contract'

Manchester City have offered Rodri a new contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is claimed that Real Madrid are interested in the 29-year-old.

If the Spain international rejects City's new deal, then Pep Guardiola's side would reportedly still ask for a big fee this summer despite his contract being up at the end of next season.

Last month, Rodri refused to rule out a future move to Real when he leaves Man City.

He played for Atletico Madrid earlier in his career, but he insists that would not prevent him from joining their city rivals should the opportunity arise.

He told radio station Onda Cero: There are more players who have taken that path. Not directly, but over time. You cant turn down the best clubs in the world.

Rodri, who joined City in 2019, admits he would like to return to play in his homeland one day.

He said: I would like to return, yes, obviously.

Seven players set to leave Liverpool as Slot looks to reshape squad - reports

Liverpool are preparing to offload a number of players this summer, with Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa all being made available for sale as head coach Arne Slot looks to rebuild the Premier League champions' squad, according to reports in the Sun.

Meanwhile, there are also  doubts over the futures of midfielder Curtis Jones, Scotland left-back Andy Robertson and central defender Ibrahima Konate, who could all Anfield this summer.

Mohamed Salah has already announced his departure from the club at the end of the season, while there could be yet more upheaval for the Reds with both sporting director Richard Hughes and chief executive of football for Fenway Sports Group Michael Edwards wanted by clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

One area of the team Slot is looking to strengthen is the holding midfield position, with Brightons Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palaces Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forests Elliot Anderson and Real Madrids Eduardo Camavinga all reportedly targets.
