Justin Rose explains why his PGA Tour form ‘validates’ decision to reject past LIV Golf offer

Justin Rose believes his decision to reject LIV Golf in 2022 has been "validated" by his upturn in form on the PGA Tour in recent years.

Rose claimed his first tournament win of the season in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, also marking his 13th career PGA Tour victory and his third since receiving the offer to join Saudi-backed LIV four years ago.

The Englishman was a runner-up at the 2025 Masters, and was a key component of the first away Ryder Cup win in 13 years - opportunities that he may have missed, alongside fellow countrymen Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter, had he left the PGA Tour.

"Yeah, it did validate the decision [to reject LIV]," Rose said. "The way things are in the world of golf right now, I feel like it's good to see people wanting to play where it motivates them to be their best.

"My career goals have always only been attainable by staying on the European Tour and the PGA Tour because access to them is not, you know, not possible the other way.

"I want to play in amongst the best players in the world. That obviously for me is what keeps me motivated, what keeps me hungry, what keeps me pushing.

"So yeah, it would have been easy to potentially do other things, but none of that excited me I don't think really.

"I always felt like my childhood self wouldn't feel very good about making that decision and giving up on those dreams."

The world No 3 had gone without a worldwide win for three years when LIV Golf came calling ahead of its launch but Rose's focus was, and has remained, on winning a second career major.

"I've been close. I would say, you know, sniffing and knocking on the door of a couple majors since those decisions were made and those moments.

"I've achieved a lot in the game, but I've achieved a lot of it just once.

"I've been really close to The Open, I've been really close to The Masters. The dream of winning all four was obviously the ultimate goal since I've been a kid.

"It seems a long way off to think that way, but if you think about some of the results I've had in the last year or 18 months, I'm not that far away so may as well keep believing."
